In this project, I co-creative directed a shoot for the The Look Magazine‘s 10th-anniversary issue, interpreting the editorial theme Form Over Hue. This theme challenged us to strip away the distraction of color and explore how visual language exists purely in form, shadows and light. My co-creative director and I drew inspiration from the high-contrast, gritty cinematography of Mathieu Kassovitz‘s La Haine (1995), a film that centers around systemic faliure, marginalized youth, and police brutality. We recontextualized this narrative for a modern American landscape, to define this generation’s rebellion against the chaos.
